Jess Fox secures third Olympic medal

Jess Fox has won bronze in the Women’s K1 Canoe Slalom at Tokyo 2021.

Lampoon Group’s Jess Fox has kicked off her Tokyo Olympic campaign by winning a Bronze medal in the women’s K1 event. This is Jess’ third Olympic medal in the event, having won silver at London 2012 and Bronze at Rio 2016.

Despite posting the fastest time in her kayak, two penalties consigned her to the bronze medal behind Germany’s Ricarda Funk, who took gold and defending champion Spain’s Maialen Chourrant.

Following her race, Jess said:

“On the day anyone can win in that final and I was giving it the best shot that I could, it was a fight from gate four onwards. I really tried to push it and to not give up, to not let any more time slip away after my mistake in the middle as well. That’s our sport.”

Jess will now continue her Olympic campaign into the women’s C1 event, which will make its debut in the Tokyo 2021 Olympic program.

During the pre-Olympic World Cup event in Markkleeberg, Germany, Jess won the C1 event in a race that her competitors called ‘out of this world’.

The Lampoon Team is so proud of Jess’ Olympic efforts so far and look forward to watching her compete for another medal.
