Ellyse Perry published her first non-fiction book with HarperCollins

Ellyse Perry’s first non-fiction book, titled Perspective, was published by HarperCollins in November 2019.

Josh White, Ellyse’s manager and CEO of Lampoon Group, brokered the publishing deal for world rights, including e-book and audio editions, in January of 2019 with HarperCollins’ Head of Australian Non-Fiction Helen Littleton.

On why the time was right to publish her first non-fiction book, Perry said,

“Growing up, I loved reading about elite athletes and those who were amongst the best in their field – what drove them, how they worked towards achieving their goals, and the lessons they learned along the way.

“Perspective is my way of sharing the mindset I’ve developed through my career thus far, key reflections from my childhood and adolescence, and the most valuable things I’ve learned about being an elite athlete. It would be incredible if this book helps and inspires young women and men in the same way that the books I read growing up have helped to inspire me.”

Perry’s inspiring book, which is heavily illustrated, features stories and reflections from her childhood and career on the themes of dreaming, belief, work, resilience, acceptance, opportunity, balance and perseverance – and their importance in everything she has achieved. Perspective also features never-before-published pictures from Perry’s childhood and includes key insights and lessons from the point of view of one of Australia’s greatest and most admired athletes.

On the opportunity to publish Perry’s book, HarperCollins’ Helen Littleton said,

“HarperCollins is proud to be working with Ellyse and her management, Lampoon Group, to publish an inspiring book for Ellyse’s fans that shares and celebrates the positive and empowering messages of her stellar career.

“In the book, there is a wonderful photo of Ellyse at age 5 confidently bowling to her big brother in their driveway – it says everything about Ellyse’s achievements and what this book is about. Belief, determination, perseverance, passion and hard work are all a part of this success story.”

Josh White, Ellyse’s manager and CEO of Lampoon Group said,

“Ellyse is a once-in-a-generation athlete. The impact she has made in sport is a testimony to her mindset and approach away from it. Perspective is insightful and empowering, and we are thrilled to have partnered with HarperCollins to bring this to life for Ellyse.”
