Charlotte Caslick Wins Third Shawn Mackay Award

After a hugely successful 2021 season, Charlotte Caslick has won her third Shawn Mackay Award, recognising her as the Women’s Sevens Player of the Year for ‘21

Named in the memory of Shawn Mackay’s life, receiving this award as a player represents their outstanding commitment to the game of Rugby Sevens, as well as to have shown a level of sportsmanship and leadership that upholds the values of Rugby. After an outstanding 2021, Caslick has done just that.

Starring in the Australian Olympic campaign, Caslick scored the opening try of the competition and continued to dominate against Japan, China and Fiji – she displayed the skills and leadership required to be a  star of the game.

Caslick then went on to exhibit her excellence in the World Series competitions, leading the Australian Women to back to back titles in Dubai, and winning the DHL Impact Player of the Match in every game of the latter competition.

Charlotte said upon receiving the award:

“It’s an honor to be chosen for this award given all it represents.

While we didn’t have the campaign we wanted in 2021, towards the end of the year we started to come together as a team and I’m excited to play with such an incredible group as we progress through the World Series.

Rugby isn’t a game of individual awards, but I’m certainly honored to be recognised by my peers and know I’ll have a hard time retaining this honor next year.”

Charlotte has previously won the Shawn Mackay Award in 2016 and 2019
